“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24 – 27)
What does a house’s foundation do? It provides a base on which to build the house. It enables the house to hold together. The right foundation makes all the difference.
Your life foundation keeps you strong and stable. If you have the right life foundation, Jesus says you will be secure like a house that is attached to rock and holds together even during storms and floods.
If you only want to please yourself, then your life’s foundation is yourself. You are building your life for yourself. It’s a sand-castle life: it might look great for a while, but it won’t hold together forever.
What do we need to do to have the right foundation for life? Do what Jesus says to do: trust in him, and follow his words. Have you decided this?
