Christ our Wisdom

blog_wisdom“ … Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:2b)

“Wisdom” in the Bible is the skill of pleasing God.  It’s the ability to know and do what God wants.

“Knowledge” is information that includes the Bible but is also broader than the Bible.  It’s the knowledge of mathematics and science.  It’s the knowledge of the arts and the facts and stories of history.

“All” includes all the ways to please God, and all the data of the universe from DNA to the stars.  Where does it all come from?  The Bible says all wisdom and knowledge comes from Jesus.  He was there at the universe’s creation.  He is the eternal Son of God, with no beginning or ending.  In the Bible Jesus is called the Ancient of Days and the Alpha and Omega (the A and the Z).  Jesus was there before human history and when this planet will one day be consumed, he will stand above it all.

This is why Jesus Christ is the most important person in our church.  God established the earth and gave us the authority and ability to discover and learn all about it.  Everything true we learn in church and in life ultimately comes from Christ.  His fingerprints are over everything.
